Who we are

Nerds of the Pit (nerdsofthepit.com) is a tabletop RPG actual play podcast produced by Brett Simison under Distant Earth Studio in Vergennes, Vermont. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit this website, by whom, and why.

What we collect

Server logs

Our web server automatically records standard access logs when you visit any page. These logs include your IP address, the page requested, your browser type, and the date and time of the request. This is standard behavior for any web server and is used solely for diagnosing technical problems and monitoring basic traffic. Log data is not shared with any third party and is not used for advertising or profiling. Logs are retained for no longer than 30 days.

No cookies from us

Nerds of the Pit does not set any first-party cookies. We do not run analytics software (no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting). We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personal information through this website unless you contact us directly (see below).

Third-party services

RSS.com podcast player

Our episode player is embedded from RSS.com (rss.com). When the player loads, RSS.com may set cookies and collect playback analytics — such as which episodes are played, how long they are played, and general geographic or device information. This data is collected by RSS.com under their own privacy policy, which you can read at rss.com/privacy-policy.

To give you a choice, the player does not load until you acknowledge this notice via the banner at the bottom of the page. Once you accept, your preference is saved in your browser's local storage so you are not asked again.

Podcast platforms

Our podcast is distributed through Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, and RSS.com. If you listen through any of these platforms, their own privacy policies apply. We receive only aggregate, anonymized listener statistics from these platforms — not personally identifying information.

External links

This site links to external websites including Instagram, Bluesky, Facebook, YouTube, and others. Clicking those links takes you to third-party sites governed by their own privacy policies. We have no control over and no responsibility for their data practices.

Contact email

If you email us at the address listed on our contact page, we will use your email address only to respond to your message. We do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not share your email address with any third party.

Your rights

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you. Since we collect very little personal data, most requests will relate to server logs, which we can purge on request.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address on the contact page. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

This website is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
